Does Government’s broadband preparation mean anything for the economy?

Julius Genachowski who is the FCC chairman is expected this week to level his broadband plan for Congress. He has trickled down a number of plans in his platform during various interviews. He says that his objectives include 100 million households with 100 mbps speed till 2020.

This is one method of the government to do something good for the disadvantaged groups in the society. Based on Genachowski’s research we lag far behind from Korea and Finland’s broadband services. Also due to lack of broadband rural and undeserved markets are at a drawback when the issue is related to job search, health care and education. Even though there are so many problems in the country the government intervention keeps on creating catastrophes.

It is not that the government is always doing things the wrong way which proves negative for people but there are some times when they think something and something different takes place completely. What the FCC is planning to do is that they would address 5% to 10% that don’t use broadband. This way they may just find some solutions for increasing the economy.
